3 Key Steps to Extend the Service Life of Hydraulic Cylinder

Apr 06, 2025

Hydraulic Cylinders are indispensable tools in the fields of maintenance and construction, but many users cause premature damage to their equipment due to lack of maintenance knowledge. As a professional manufacturer, we summarize the following 3 key maintenance steps for you to help you significantly extend the service life of the Hydraulic Cylinder and ensure safe and efficient operation.
1. Regularly replace hydraulic oil
Hydraulic oil is the "blood" of the jack. Long-term use will mix impurities or oxidize and deteriorate, causing internal wear. It is recommended to replace the hydraulic oil every 300-500 times or at least once a year, and choose the anti-wear model recommended by the manufacturer.
2. Keep clean and rust-proof
Dust and sand entering the cylinder will accelerate the wear of the seals, and a humid environment can easily cause metal parts to rust. After use, wipe off the surface stains in time, especially the piston rod; when stored for a long time, the piston rod needs to be fully retracted and rust-proof grease applied.
3. Standardize operation and avoid overloading
Overloading is the main cause of damage to the hydraulic system. During operation, be sure to ensure that the load does not exceed the rated load, keep the center of gravity stable, and avoid lateral force.
By adhering to these 3 key steps, your Hydraulic Cylinder will not only extend its service life by 3-5 years, but also always maintain its best working condition.
